Therapeutic Services
I offer in-person and online sessions depending on location and needs.
I offer therapy with individuals, couples/relationships and families. ‘Family’ is whatever you take it to be, recognising the rich and varied ways that families are understood and experienced, also embracing work across generations, even continents! My preference in my private practice is for working with older children and siblings, 16 years plus. This is only because from my experience, working with the wider network, including schools could be helpful and I currently have limited capacity for this but please be in touch if you’d like to chat this through.
Session times are usually 50 minutes with individuals and 50-90 minutes with couples/relationships and families. We can explore and agree this at the start and review along the way.
Our work together may be over a few sessions or longer. There is no pressure or fixed number but in our introductory or first session we can consider expectations, hopes and areas of focus. We’ll take regular opportunities to review the work and agree whether to continue, close or even just pause.
My work with couples/relationships and families supports looking at ‘stuckness’ in interactions and communication patterns, attuning to emotions and enhancing understanding to help find a way through struggles, problems and feeling disconnected.
As well as careful listening, talking and asking questions, I can offer more creative and interactive approaches, such as using images, writing and objects and with families more playful activities but this will vary person to person as finding the fit, and being collaborative, supportive and helpful is my main aim.
To this end I have started offering some Ecosystemic Psychotherapy - an opportunity to be out in, and with nature - to feel supported and helped through our natural landscapes to connect to, and explore our thoughts, emotions, relationships, hopes and dreams. For some people being with nature can feel more calming, holding and facilitating for therapeutic work than being in a therapy room. I’m very happy for a conversation around this.
Whether online, in nature or in a therapy room, we can explore the ideas, histories, stories and beliefs that frame, contextualise and influence ways of seeing, being and relating; and also understanding problems or concerns. This can help open up different ways of understanding that create opportunities for acceptance, change, re-storying, connection, and feeling better about oneself, partner(s), family and others.
Costs are £70 for individuals and £80-£125 for couples, relationships and families, please be in touch if you’d like to chat this through.
